Much of my work is related to my position as associate director of Ekklesia, a Christian thinktank which explores the role of religion and ethics in politics and society.
Ekklesia runs a daily online news briefing service as well as providing research on comment on issues facing Britain and the world today. To find out more, please visit Ekklesia’s website.
Ekklesia promotes post-Christendom approaches to policy, emphasising that the decline of Christendom – in which the Church was allied to power and wealth – is an opportunity to look again at the radically progressive nature of Jesus’ teaching.
Issues which Ekklesia explores include nonviolence and conflict transformation, environmental action, the politics of forgiveness, economic sharing, support for migrants and displaced people, freedom of expression, restorative justice, a positive relational approach to sexuality, non-compulsion in religion and belief, the engagement of theology with science and culture, respectful engagement with those of other faiths and non-religious convictions, and church as alternative community.
As associate director of Ekklesia, I consider myself very privileged to work with the co-directors, Simon Barrow and Jonathan Bartley, and the other associate directors, Jill Seggar and Jordan Tchilingirian, as well as a range of associates, consultants and contributors.
